Compass sea jelly in False Bay

Article: Wired on Arctic sea creatures

Wired magazine has an article and a slideshow of creatures photographed on the edge of the Arctic Circle, by a young Russian marine biologist who has been stationed there for the past five years. Alexander Semenov takes his photos on dives in the freezing water, and also in the laboratory, where he can take his time with the smaller creatures. You can see more of his work on his flickr page. The colours are incredible. It astounds me that life can exist with such jewel-like extravagance at 66 degrees north of the equator!
