Hi divers
Last weekend we cancelled the launches on Saturday and did a shore dive on Sunday, with a mixture of students and casual divers. There were nine of us at Long Beach and we had a bit of a mission staying together as conditions were not that great with a lot of surge and 3-4 metres visibility.
We had a pretty wet start to the week but the wind has blown consistently in the right direction to clean the bay. We did a dive on Wednesday but the run off from the heavy rains took its toll on the viz close to shore.

Weekend plans
For the weekend we are seeing forecasts of not much wind, lots of sun and a not too big southerly swell (or westerly depending on your favourite weather site) which makes me think Saturday will be the best for the boat and Sunday we will shore dive. The plan for Saturday will be a Smitswinkel Bay wreck, possibly the Princess Elizabeth as it’s been a while since we were there, and then the SAS Pietermaritzburg. We will launch at 9.30 and 12.00 from False Bay Yacht Club. Text me if you want to dive on either day.

Travel
Durban has come and gone (the newsletter pictures this week are again from our Durban trip) and we really had good diving whilst there. This is a city with fantastic diving that stays great all year round and is a pleasant alternative to Sodwana with the Isimangaliso issues, or Mozambique with passport control. Our next warm water excursion will be the Red Sea for a live aboard trip in October. Let me know if you think you’ll need a break around that time…

Boring administrative stuff
We’ve had the boat since March 2012, and unfortunately it’s time for a bit of a price increase. Regular divers, please make sure you’re sitting down when you call to book your dives. Please also remember that you need to have your MPA permit in date if you plan to come diving.
